Founded in 2010 by Lela Becker and Tim Kaeding, MOTHER’s first collection of vintage-inspired jeans disrupted the denim landscape – previously a sea of black skinnies – and created an entirely new space in denim. MOTHER has since grown into a global brand expanding across denim, sportswear, outerwear and accessories.

Famous for its model cult following and super soft fabrics, L.A.-based denim brand MOTHER evokes the memories and experiences of growing up in California in the 70s – what you were wearing, what you were doing and who you were getting into trouble with.

The name MOTHER plays off the idea of duality – it can be nurturing or a cuss. It evokes unconditional love and teenage rebellion all at the same time. The brand’s attitude and collections always present a juxtaposition of hard and soft. It is unique for its genius in keeping an indie spirit while still offering fits and washes that appeal to a wide range of people.

In keeping with its rebellious attitude, the brand’s denim fits are often named after the friends MOTHER warned you not to hang out with: The Tripper, The Runaway and The Looker, to name just a few. "We stand for having fun, and not taking yourself too seriously," adds Becker.
